Smoothies are a quick and economical way to give our bodies some well deserve TLC, particularly if catering for picky children. There is an ever increasing debate on smoothies v juices and both have their benefits. I tend to have a smoothie if I’m in a rush and need a quick nutritional fix. BTW, the key benefit of a smoothie over a juice is that a smoothie retains the fibre content.
Through research and a lot of taste testing I’ve compiled smoothie recipes for 5 common medical aliments.

Over did it at the weekend? Try this delicious Detox Green Smoothie. Have for breakfast Monday morning and away you go!
2 Celery Stick – chopped
1 small Cucumber – chopped
Handful of Spinach
Sprig of Parsley (do not use if pregnant)
1 Lemon peeled and chopped
1 Apple, cored and chopped
Add the ingredients one at a time into your blender and blend on high. If too thick add water. Strain before drinking to remove bits
Need a boost? Can’t stay awake? Try this Super Energy Green Smoothie. With a combination of high alkaline ingredients to boost your energy and blood sugar balancing to prevent energy dips and fatigue.
2 handfuls of spinach
1 handful of kale
200 ml of almond milk
3 tablespoon of coconut oil
50 g soaked almonds
25g soaked cashews
1 tablespoon chia seeded
Soak the nuts for at least 20 minutes. Preferably over night
Add the ingredients one at a time into your blender and blend on high Add more milk or water if necessary
Migraine Remover Smoothie
Can’t shift the migraine? Top up your magnesium levels and blast it away with this delicious Coconut Kale Smoothie
1 Teaspoon of flaxseeds
3 cups of kale
2 oranges peeled
200 ml of coconut milk
Add the ingredients one at a time into your blender and blend on high Add water if smoothie is too thick.
Healthy Eyes Smoothie
Squinting too much? Dry eyes? Try this wonderful orange smoothie to nurse your eyes back to health.
1 cup of sliced carrot
1 cup fresh orange juice
½ teaspoon fresh ginger
Add the ingredients one at a time into your blender and blend on high Strain before drinking to remove bit. Add more orange juice if needed.
Arthritis Relief Smoothie
This fab tasting smoothie contains nutrients such as bromelain, curcumin and gingerols that help prevent inflammation in your body.
A quarter of fresh pineapple chopped– the core is the healthiest bit
1 tablespoon coconut oil
Handful of strawberries
1 stick of celery
1 teaspoon of turmeric
½ inch of peeled fresh ginger
200 ml Almond milk
Chop up strawberries and celery and place in a bowl of hot water with apple cider vinegar for 1 minute
Add the ingredients one at a time into your blender and blend on high. Add more milk if necessary.
