In this blog post: Passive Income Made Easy with Lisa Johnson: Part 2, I’m going to bring you the advice I received from Lisa Johnson, otherwise known as The Passive Income Queen and my executive summary of how you can EASILY make passive income RIGHT NOW!

This is Part 2 of a 2 Part blog, so I recommend you go back to Part 1 by clicking here before you read this blog post.

Both Part 1 and Part 2 are a general summary of how to go about doing an online course – as in the bigger picture. I purposefully haven’t gone into the nitty gritty details on these blog posts simply because when I started out (and I know I’m not alone) I became so bogged down in the details, details details details, I didn’t see the wood for the trees and ended up producing an online course that nobody purchased! I missed the obvious. What Lisa does in the podcast and what I summarise in this post is the road map you need to follow – as in the key steps.

It’s golden!

Lisa is one of the only people I know in the UK who is doing this successfully – as in is making A LOT of money and in this blog post I bring you the edited key highlights of the podcast I did with her and it’s a corker!

If your needing to make additional money or simply want to change your 9 to 5 then you must read this from start to finish! She gives amazing and practical tips.

I’ve formed the blog post as a transcript, Lisa is blue and Prosperity Kitchen is pink BUT BUT BUT  i’ve edited thoroughly to bring you only the juicy bits!

I’ve highlighted the tech resources she recommends you use in bold with links to their websites.

Rushed for time?

Then scroll to the end of this blog post whereby I give you an Executive Summary.

Enjoy!

Passive Income Made Easy with Lisa Johnson: Part 2

Lisa Johnson – Passive Income Queen

What I would actually do is get your get your sales page together, get it all going. Do a proper launch and launching should take 6 to 12 weeks.

Launching isn’t just putting an advert on social media.

You need a proper strategy for launching just like you do for everything else. And that’s why people do things like challenges and boot camps and webinars and all the rest of it.

And the best thing about it is, if you’re going to do it live, it means you can do it once a week or once a month or once every two weeks or whatever, giving you that time in between to write the next module. So, then you’ve lost nothing if it doesn’t work.

You know, you can fail fast.

Gemma – Prosperity Kitchen

When you say all of this and I think back to when I was launching my first online course, the technical side of things got me very wrapped up in anxiety because I’m rubbish! I didn’t focus on the important bits like audience and sales pages etc!!!

Lisa Johnson – Passive Income Queen

Use Mail Chimp or Mailer Lite, they’re both free. Both are very basic, but friendly and easy to use. You use them to collect email addresses to create a sales funnel, which is basically how you’re going to get people into your world.

You know, you’ve probably heard of a freebie or an “opt in” so that’s how you get the people into your world in the first place. And you can use Mail Chimp or Mailer Lite to do that. You can use them to write a sales page and any testimonials that you’ve got and your audience can then click on and buy.

If you really hate tech, the best thing to do is sell it first. So, you do have to do your sales page first, but if you can get to the point where you can do your sales page then people will buy and then once they’ve bought you will have enough money to hire a VA to put the course somewhere.

Gemma – Prosperity Kitchen

Where did you put your course?

Lisa Johnson – Passive Income Queen

I’ve tried all of them; so, I’ve done teachable and membership sites as well. But actually, what I found the easiest was a little plugin that you can get called Member Space. I put all of my courses and all of my membership on Member Space and it cost me £49 a month.

If you’ve got WordPress you can get Member Press.

I now use Active Campaign which is a step up from MailChimp and I use Lead Pages, which is like a swanky version of how to make a sales page. But I didn’t at the beginning at the beginning, I used the basics out there and hardly spent anything

Gemma – Prosperity Kitchen

Listener you don’t need to know all of this stuff because you can pay a tech VA £25 per hour to set all of this up for you. Where does one get a tech VA from?

Lisa Johnson – Passive Income Queen

Zoom VA is a really good one. There are loads of websites and loads of Facebook groups where loads of VA hanging out, but the best is via recommendation.

Gemma – Prosperity Kitchen

So to summarise again – you launch the course, get the money and then you pay somebody to do tech side for you?

Lisa Johnson – Passive Income Queen

After you can work it out yourself. There are so many YouTube videos on how to use Teachable or how to use Member Space. And I think that we’re scared of tech, I definitely am. And so, I immediately recoil from all the fancy names that people use for the tech. But when you sit down and just go right, I’m going to spend two days working out what this stuff means. You can do it and I’ve seen people who are my clients who are terrified of tech, you know, I have 65-year-old clients, but they want to do it and they learn and they do it.

Passive Income Made Easy with Lisa Johnson: Part 2

Gemma – Prosperity Kitchen

That’s it, and you’ve just explained that so simply. The key is getting that audience. Making sure you’ve targeted them right and then asking them what they want. And I’m stressing this because I was very arrogant and I thought I knew what my audience wanted, and in fact, they didn’t want it at all!

Whereas if I just asked the question, I would have saved a lot of time and a lot of money,

Lisa Johnson – Passive Income Queen

No judgement for me, I’ve done exactly the same thing.

Gemma – Prosperity Kitchen

  1. So in summary, I ask my audience what they want.
  2. Get a simple sales page. One of the easiest ways to do that is via MailChimp or there is lead pages.
  3. Launching should take 6 to 12 weeks
  4. Then sell it.
  5. Then actually write the course.

Lisa Johnson – Passive Income Queen

And then once you’ve sold it, you then write the course

And then after you’ve delivered it, put up a waitlist for the next release. So, you want to use all that material you’ve just written and sell it over and over and over again.

If you get wait list up straight away, then the next time you open it in six months’ time there’s already people that who want to buy

Gemma – Prosperity Kitchen

And do you have a course teaching people this stuff?

Lisa Johnson – Passive Income Queen

Passion for Passive which is my signature course, is about how to start from scratch with no audience and grow an audience and nurture an audience and sell them memberships and courses.

There is also The Fabulous 5% my Facebook Group and that’s where I am hanging out most of the time.

Passive Income Queen Lisa JohnsonLisa is a business coach and is known as ‘The Passive Income Queen’ after taken half the year off to go travelling with her family all whilst earning multiple 6 figures a year! Lisa is passionate about wanting to share what she has learnt with others…She said; “My biggest piece of advice is to work alongside a business coach or life coach to establish a plan of action with clear goals. This self-investment not only helped me to reflect but in the long-run saved me so much time and also money!  With the help of my coach, I learned so much about business, working hard on my mindset and putting into place a plan of action that saw my business go from no clients to fully booked in just 5 months whilst upping my prices 3 times in that timeframe.  Industry colleagues wanted to know how I had achieved this level of success and so I started to spend time with them, helping them to analyse their businesses, who their ideal clients were and how they could go about attracting them. They then started seeing huge successes and increasing their profits as a result of the guidance I had given them. This was the start of my coaching business and within the first six months I was hitting six figures and every programme I launched was selling out within hours. “After years of working crazy 80-hour weeks, feeling exhausted and with little free-time, my coach encouraged me to explore and learn the ways of passive income streams to gain myself freedom – Passive Income now defines my way of business, meaning I have so much more freedom to spend time with my family.  It has allowed my husband to retire from his 9-5 job and focus on our wedding business, and look after our twins, who are seven. As for me, it means I can just work 9am-3pm four days a week, with 80% of the money I earn being passive income from courses and memberships.  Reduce working hours allows more free time to enjoy life – “we work to live not live to work!” I am now known as The Passive Income Queen, having taken half the year off to go travelling with my family all whilst earning multiple 6 figures and I want to share what I have learnt with fellow entrepreneurs.  I now work as a business coach for ambitious entrepreneurs and specialise in helping my clients understand and implement passive income, helping them reduce their working hours and give them more free time to enjoy life.”  https://lisajohnsoncoaching.co.uk/
