Welcome to my blog post 10 Quick Steps To Stop Procrastination Now!

It’s a BIGGY topic and extremely popular in my life coaching practice: PROCRASTINATION……

Hands up if you’re procrastinating over something now? What do you keep putting off that you know needs to be done?

I would say that procrastination is one of the most popular self-improvement topics around.

So, if you procrastinate you’re not alone.

Below, I’m going to give you 10 quick steps to stop you procrastinating, but for those of you who want the quick quick fix it’s this:

As Nike say, JUST DO IT!……

Honestly, there is no magical fix to procrastinating except for doing with what you’ve been putting off. You know what I’m talking about, that one thing that you’ve been delaying doing for ages.

JUST DO IT!!

There is no time like the present to seize the moment and grab that horrible nasty gremlin job and shake him by the throat and get it finished!!!

So here are my 10 Quick Steps To Stop Procrastination Now!

  1. To Do List

To Do List

One evening this week, set aside 15 minutes to write down ALL those niggly tasks that you need to do, but haven’t done.

  1. Prioritise

Prioritise

Prioritise the list with the most urgent one being number one and so on.

  1. Why?

Why?

Next to each task, write why you are doing it?  This will help with motivation and focus. Sometimes we lose sight of why we have to do things.

  1. Afterglow

Write how you’re going to feel after you’ve completed each task? What’s it going to bring you?  It may just be a generic “I’ve achieved” or it may be more specific. It’s been proven that writing things down makes them more powerful,,,,,

  1. Obstacles

Excitement

Identify what is stopping you from getting each task done? Is it technical knowledge? Money? Time? Know how? Boring job? List every single obstacle here that you can think of.

  1. Support

Support

Next to each obstacle, identify who or what can help you get over the obstacle? Take your time on this, It’s normally the obstacles that cause procrastination in the first place. My top piece of advice for this: consult the experts!!

  1. Best Time

Best Time

Think about when is the best time for you to tackle each task? When do you have the most energy? Or when is it the most practical time to do it?

  1. Motivation

Ok, you’ve been procrastinating for a reason, probably because it’s a task you just don’t want to do or you don’t know how to do it. So what’s going to make doing the job more enjoyable? Getting expert help? Listening to an audio book whilst doing it? New gym clothes? A reward afterwards? Doing the task with someone? Paying someone to do it for you?

  1. Do One at A Time

One at a time

Work through your list and only tackle one task at a time. Do not start on a new task until the old task has been completed.

  1. START!

The Top 5 Ways To Start Your Day

Now get your diary and schedule the time to start task 1. Ideally start now! Regardless how tough it is, FINISH IT. If you get stuck don’t bury your head in the sand, ASK FOR HELP.

I hope this has helped you.
