Welcome to my blog post: Two Steps To Transform Your Life.

My sincere promise to you is that these two steps will change your life.

They changed mine.

My sincere promise to you is that these two steps will change your life.

They changed mine.

Now, stay with me for this because as boring as these two steps are going to sound, I PROMISE, they will change your life and will definitely form the first major steps towards a Personal Revolution.

Two Steps To Transform Your Life are:

  1. Set your Alarm Earlier
  2. Get out of bed as soon as you wake up

I told you they sound unremarkable!

But as with most things in life, the original solutions are the best and you can’t get more original that these.

Want to know the beauty of following these two steps?

You will turn what is probably a twilight zone of nothingness: the time in the morning before work, into the MOST PRODUCTIVE part of your day.

Take a moment to think about this morning for example.

What did you do?

Did you hit the snooze button and sleep for another 30 minutes? Or did you immediately look at Facebook for 30 minutes?

Up until my Personal Revolution, I always used to wake up and lie in my bed for a good hour, intermittingly snoozing between sleep and being awake. I would then leap out of bed at the absolute last minute only allowing myself the time to shower and throw on the easiest item of clothing I could find.

However, frequent early flights to Bahrain changed this.

I was living in Dubai at the time and was travelling to Bahrain frequently.

This meant I was regularly getting up at 5.30 am.

Initially when I first started to travel to Bahrain, I was filled with dread thinking about the 5.30 am alarm time.

The night before, I would set my clothes out for the following morning, put my phone in the kitchen with the alarm set and went to bed.

The next morning my phone went off and my reaction was to grab it and hide under the duvet. But the shrilling alarm in the kitchen prevented me from doing this. I had no choice but to leap out of bed and go into the kitchen and turn my alarm off.

Then the strangest thing happened.

By the time, I had reached my bathroom and turned the shower on I felt fully awake.

I can still remember, I literally stopped in my track and analysed this.

Did I always feel awake after 5 minutes of getting out of bed?

So, I decided to test my theory.

For the next week, as soon as the alarm went off and however knackered I felt, I got out of bed.

Without fail, within 5 minutes, every time I felt fully alert and ready to go.

I carried this test on for a few more weeks just to be sure and it proved that within 5 minutes of getting out of bed, I felt awake.

Now, this may not seem like anything major as you read this, but trust me it is.

Prior to waking up early, the morning for me was literally a transition period between sleep and going to work, where nothing productive was achieved. Like they are for most people, my mornings were a means to end.

Until my Personal Revolution began.

Waking up early means I’m now able to do the following:

  • Exercise
  • Meditate
  • Dress nicely
  • Be super productive at work. I’m so alert and happy following my morning exercise and meditation, I virtually fly into the office and achieve so much more. Also, being in super early allows me the freedom to properly analyse what I need to do to get super productive results. It allows me time to laser focus.
  • I’ve reclaimed my evenings. I’ve found an additional 2 hours of leisure time to do as I please and boy has that revolutionise my life! Instead of exercising and the time that used to take me, I’m now able to do something else. It’s pure indulgence to do whatever I want.

Like I said, on paper this may not sound like much.

But in reality, it’s a life changer.

What advice can I give you to help you with the early starts? I’ve got four simple rules:

  1. Go to bed earlier. Work out how much sleep you need and work backwards to establish what time your bedtime needs to be.
  2. Mentally prepare for the shock of waking up early. Accept it’s going to be tough at first but in the knowledge, it will become easier and easier as time moves on.
  3. Move your alarm clock into another room, preferably another floor. Set two or three alarms if you want too.
  4. Allow 5 minutes to pass, I promise you within 5 minutes of getting up you will be fully alert and ready to start your day.

This is so easy to implement and the results have been life changing. I now have my evenings back to do as I please. I can’t tell you how happy that’s made me feel.

I’m currently waking up at 5.30 am but I’ve noticed recently I’ve started to wake up at 5 am. Soon I will shift my wake-up time back to 5 am which will enable me to prepare my dinner in advance leaving me with even more time in the evening.

It literally gets better and better.

Time is such a luxury commodity, it’s a crime not to reward yourself some more!

I will leave you with:

“It is well to be up before daybreak, for such habits contribute to health, wealth, and wisdom”. Aristole
